Malayalam Foundation identified last year through Malayali Friends Group,  Ahmedabad, an elderly unfortunate mother Smt. Sumathikutty Amma of Seevelikunnu, Kottayam Dist. She is a 66 years old hapless widow who has nobody to support or help. She was struggling to look for ways and means for food and living. Malayali Friends Group of Ahmedabad extended their help by allotting   Rs. 1,000 per month from their corpus fund. Malayalam Foundation to its true spirits expressed solidarity and extended our financial assistance of Rs. 300 per month for one year to that Amma totalling Rs. 3,600 through MFG.

This year Malayalam Foundation felicitated and awarded Rs. 2,000 cash to the top scorers of HSC and SSC from Kalyan East, Kalyan West, Dombivli West and Dombivli East areas within one month after declaration of the results.

The most versatile, gifted and unique personality Nanappan Manjapra is Marunattile Kunjunni. He will be completing 70 years on the eve of Thiruvonam Day in 2012. Malayalam Foundation initiated and planned to celebrate his Sapthathi in a grand style with literary meeting, book release and cultural programmes on 31 st August, 2012, the Chathayam Day on Friday, at Mysore Association Hall, Matunga, Mumbai.

Malayalam Foundation trying to identify hitherto unrecognised talented and versatile Malayali personalities from literature, theatre, cinema, journalism, publishing, social service and other fields and planning to recognize them with Malayalam Foundation Awards. The award consists of cash, citation and trophy.

Malayalam Foundation announced 2011 Awards and the Awardees of 2011 are:

•  Nanappan Manjapra (Poetry, Dramatics and Media)

•  Girijavallabhan (Social Service, Trade Union and Literature

•  Kattoor Murali (Journalism - The only Marunadan Malayali born, brought up and studied Malayalam outside Kerala and working as a leading Malayalam Journalist)

•  C.S. Panicker (The exceptional editor, printer, publisher and owner of the small publication “Navakam” published from Ayankalam, Malappuram District since last 22 years without skipping any issue in spite of all odds and hurdles)

•  Mundoor Rajan ( The one and only successful Malayalam book publisher from outside Keralam and

•  Aravindan Nelluvayi (Best director for his debut directorial venture of Innalaye Thedi .

The awards will be given away in a grand function at Sahitya Akademy Hall, Thrissur, on 19 th August 2012.

Moreover, Malayalam Foundation intends to give financial assistance to the parents of Malayali girl students in the form of interest free small loan not exceeding Rs. 5,000 to limited students and free educational materials to a number of economically backward Malayali students irrespective of caste, creed and gender from first standard to tenth standard.

Malayalam Foundation also planning this year to conduct:

•  career guidance seminars

•  English Speaking Classes for Malayalis

•  Malayalam Classes for Malayali students

•  Hindi classes for Malayalis

•  Marathi classes for Malayalis

•  Blood donation camps

•  Medical camps

•  Helping hapless old aged abandoned mothers

•  Extending support to old age homes and orphanages

•  Extending financial help for medical services

Malayalam Foundation also planning to start a Nursery/Play School at Kalyan East. A project to start job oriented vocational courses of three months, six months and one year through Bharat Sevak Samaj functioning under Planning Commission of India, Government of India, is in the progressive stage.

Malayalam Foundation believes that God has given us a wonderful life. We stand very high and to realize the difference we have to simply look at the less privileged and downtrodden people and their living conditions. Then we will know where we really are. Let us express our thanks to God by extending all possible help and support to our fellow people in whatever small manner we can. It will definitely change the lives and living conditions of the less privileged and poor people.
